It is 2020 and it still works. In the plugin settings, I use a wild card to return a 410 rather than a 404 from posts. https://mydomain.com/*/ The plugin return a 410 in the header. BRAVO. Th

Works, But Google says its not needed

I removed this plugin based on help text from Google Webmaster Tools: If you have permanently deleted content without intending to replace it with newer, related content, let the old URL return a 404

Does not work for blog posts, no answers in support forum

It works for regular pages, however, it doesn’t for blog posts. Issues/support threads are not answered, worse: are closed without answering.
