Alt Magic: AI Image Alt Text Generator for WP & Image Rename

I recently implemented Alt Magic on a site I manage to generate alt text for about 5000 images. I was extremely impressed by how the plugin uses on-page context to ensure captions are SEO keyword-rich. There were a couple of glitches when I first downloaded the plugin (about 1% of captions were irrelevant), but Advait, Alt Magic’s founder, was extremely responsive in terms of rectifying the issue and ensuring I was happy with the product. We’ve been using Alt Magic on a couple of sites now, and it works really well. There are just a few settings to configure, hit Generate Alt Texts, and the result is pretty impressive. The support team is also very responsive.

Alt Magic has been a huge time saver for our workflow. We manage hundreds of service-based websites and writing alt text manually used to be one of those repetitive tasks that slowed everything down. This tool removes that bottleneck by generating relevant, structured alt text automatically, which helps us maintain accessibility standards and improve SEO without adding extra manual work.

The descriptions are actually usable, they’re clear, contextually accurate, and don’t feel overly robotic like some automation tools. It allows us to scale image optimization across multiple sites much faster while still keeping quality high.

Sometimes you have to check certain descriptions for specific branding or context, but even with very minor edits it saves a significant amount of time compared to doing everything manually. Overall, it’s been a solid addition to our toolkit and especially valuable for teams managing large content libraries.

I have not used the plugin yet for an extended period of time, however, setting it up initially was entirely seamless. It was one click to tie in automatically to start a few credits to try out the system. The interface is intuitive and easy to use, and the settings are straight forward. I found that the best settings for my particular use and preferences were to not get context from the page, and to use the “Elaborate” setting. However the ability to set this and achieve different results based on preference, is really helpful. You can also enter your own prompt text. I did not find this was necessary but I’m glad the feature is there. There is also a very useful setting for Site Visibility, this allows you to use the plugin on a private network / site that is not on the internet. This setting got me past the bot blocking that is on our public site that caused an issue initially.

I must also mention both the professionalism of this plugin page and website: having the details of the plugin outlined completely on the plugin page was extremely helpful. Most plugins use this space for sales pitches and buzz words. Here there is no need for fluff, the plugin stands on it’s own and has the feature set and ease of use that are reflected on the page. The website is also refreshingly professional and it is easy to find the information that you need. If you need help, the chat is responded to immediately and a real person talks you through any issues.

I found this plugin with a google search and decided to give it a try. I was able to generate alt text for over 600 images across multiple sites in a matter of minutes. This plugin saved me a ton of time. Support was great to help me get my redemption code after I purchased as well.
