The features and functionality, in theory, are great – perhaps the best in class.

Unfortunately in practice, the behaviour is haphazard and unpredictable. Something that works fine for weeks will abruptly stop working fully and each patch or update is a crap shoot as to whether it will make things better or worse.

Customer service and support has fallen of a cliff since they introduced a completely useless AI chatbot layer.

Shame really.

Blog2Social is one of those plugins that makes you pause halfway through using it and ask yourself, “Was this ever tested by an actual human being?”

On paper, the idea is simple: schedule your blog posts to social media. In practice, using Blog2Social feels like assembling flat-pack furniture without instructions, except every piece looks the same and the screwdriver disappears every five minutes.

The interface is a maze of panels, buttons, and settings that seem to have been placed using the highly advanced design strategy known as “just put it somewhere.” Nothing is intuitive. Nothing is obvious. Every simple action requires a small expedition through menus that appear, disappear, and occasionally lead you somewhere completely different than expected.

And the workflow? Imagine taking a straightforward task and stretching it into as many steps as possible while making each one slightly confusing. That’s the experience. You’re never quite sure if you’ve scheduled something, saved it, previewed it, or simply opened yet another screen that looks almost identical to the previous one.

The overall design has a strong “software time capsule” vibe. Buttons appear in surprising places, settings hide like they’re playing hide-and-seek, and the entire experience feels like it was carefully engineered to make something simple feel unnecessarily complicated.

What’s especially impressive is that this plugin manages to turn the concept of automation into something that requires more effort than doing the task manually.

If you enjoy navigating confusing interfaces and clicking around until something eventually works, Blog2Social might be your perfect productivity tool.

Everyone else may want something designed with usability in mind.

P.S. One last highlight: the upgrade process. I bought the software only a few days ago and quickly realised the lower-tier version didn’t do what I needed. So I upgraded, assuming—like with almost every other piece of software—that they would simply charge the difference between plans.

Nope. Instead I was charged the full price for the next level again. No credit, no adjustment, nothing. Now I get the added joy of chasing a refund for something that should have been a simple upgrade.

Blog2Social ist eines dieser Plugins, bei denen man nach ein paar Minuten Nutzung innehalten muss und sich fragt: Hat das eigentlich jemals ein echter Mensch getestet?

Die Idee ist simpel: Blogbeiträge automatisch auf Social Media posten. Die Realität fühlt sich eher an wie der Aufbau eines Möbelstücks ohne Anleitung – nur dass alle Teile gleich aussehen und der Schraubenzieher ständig verschwindet.

Die Benutzeroberfläche ist ein Labyrinth aus Panels, Buttons und Einstellungen, die offenbar nach dem Prinzip platziert wurden: „Irgendwo wird schon passen.“ Nichts ist wirklich intuitiv. Nichts ist klar ersichtlich. Für jede einfache Aktion startet man eine kleine Expedition durch Menüs, die auftauchen, verschwinden oder einen plötzlich ganz woanders hinführen.

Der Workflow ist besonders bemerkenswert. Es wirkt fast so, als hätte man versucht, eine einfache Aufgabe in möglichst viele Schritte zu zerlegen und jeden davon ein kleines bisschen verwirrend zu gestalten. Am Ende weiß man nie ganz sicher, ob der Beitrag jetzt geplant, gespeichert, vorgeschaut oder einfach nur ein weiteres Fenster geöffnet wurde, das genauso aussieht wie das vorherige.

Auch optisch hat das Ganze einen starken „Software aus einer anderen Zeit“-Charme. Buttons tauchen an unerwarteten Stellen auf, Einstellungen verstecken sich in verschachtelten Menüs und insgesamt wirkt alles erstaunlich umständlich.

Man muss Blog2Social allerdings eines lassen: Es schafft etwas wirklich Beeindruckendes. Es nimmt das Konzept der Automatisierung und macht daraus mehr Arbeit, als den Beitrag einfach selbst zu posten.

Wer Spaß daran hat, sich durch verwirrende Benutzeroberflächen zu klicken, wird hier vielleicht glücklich. Alle anderen greifen vermutlich lieber zu Tools, die mit Benutzerfreundlichkeit im Hinterkopf entwickelt wurden.

P.S. Ein weiteres Highlight war der Upgrade-Prozess. Ich hatte die Software erst vor ein paar Tagen gekauft und schnell festgestellt, dass die niedrigere Version für meine Zwecke nicht ausreicht. Also wollte ich upgraden – in der Annahme, dass wie bei fast jeder anderen Software einfach nur die Preisdifferenz berechnet wird.

Stattdessen wurde mir der volle Preis für die nächsthöhere Version erneut berechnet. Keine Anrechnung, keine Anpassung, nichts. Jetzt darf ich mich zusätzlich noch darum kümmern, eine Rückerstattung zu bekommen – für etwas, das eigentlich ein ganz normales Upgrade hätte sein sollen.
