This plugin works great! I successfully migrated two different WooCommerce sites without any issues. I did have a little trouble at first understanding what to copy, since the labels didn’t match exactly, and I’m not very experienced with site migration. Fortunately, there are plenty of tutorials online that answered all my questions, so I didn’t need to contact support.
I have used this plugin dozens of times, successfully. I usually migrate standard WordPress sites, meaning no Bedrock or other funny business. I also once migrated a very large multisite successfully with it (~24 sites in one multisite) … that worked great. Today I tried migrating a WP site built using Bedrock, and that did not work, because the site abstracts WP admin code into a /wp/ subfolder and also changes where uploads are stored, and this plugin can’t deal with that. That’s unfortunate, but not the end of the world.
This migrator plugin does what it’s supposed to do and fairly quickly as well.
I used it to migrate websites from TransIP to Cloudways.
There are a couple of details to be mindful of though:
– Add the domain via Domain Management (and make it the primary)
– In the migrated wordpress site – search and replace the temporary domain to the real domain using WP-CLI
– After migration the Migrator plugin has a built-in preference for the Breeze cache plugin (maintained by CloudWays). The Migrator plugin apparently deactivates other caching plugings like WP-Rocket without explicitely letting you know. This kinda freaked me out as I wasn’t sure the clone was a 100% accurate.
– Remember to clear the cache
– Remember to restart Redis service
– Remember to purge Varnish service
We have used this plugin many times and it has worked flawlessly every time.
My main issue is that it tends to be incredibly slow
