Independent Analytics – Google Analytics Alternative for WordPress

I recently recommended this plug-in to a client as an alternative to my company setting them up with the full Google Analytics – which honestly, Google analytics is always so overwhelming for clients they never use it.

Your Independent Analytics plug-in is exactly what they needed and they even purchased the Pro version right away to be able to receive weekly reports for their board members.

It’s super easy to setup, but just a heads-up to developers, if you want the reports to be emailed to your client you must use a “From” email that contains your clients matching domain name, meaning you can’t use your clients gmail email as the “From” address for the reports. Independent Analytics also recommends a 3rd party plug-in if you’re having email delivery problems from a hosting company – use: (WP Mail SMTP).

Easy to use. GPR compliant and includes scheduled client reports.

So far, pretty good analytics and data, but I feel like the performance(server) impact is a little much. If that gets changed, so will my review to 5 stars

It’s a very solid analytics plugin and a great choice when you want to keep your visitors data to yourself.
Is it perfect? No.
There are a few features missing in the PRO version, IMO.
1. There’s no screen movement video recording available. That’s a very interesting feature to potentially find out where your visitors/customers are struggling.
2. Click tracking can’t be used with custom URL patterns. I now see that the latest update added classes and IDs to custom pattern which is a big step in the right direction.
3. If you use one of the major form builders (Gravity Forms) to create order forms with online payment there’s no way to track and record the total $ amount of submitted orders.

But again, it’s probably still the best WP analytics plugin out there at the moment, considering privacy and conformity with privacy protection laws, and overall features.

Plugin has everything we want to track, with a well-designed UI and customizable dashboard. Easy to set up, good documentation, and quick, helpful support when needed. BIG upgrade from other analytics options!
