Jetpack – WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth

I had accidentally clicked a button which reordered all my 160 products. They were in a really specific, important order. Aaaargh!

After 1 1/2 hours of tedious reordering, with a loooooong time still to go, I remembered Vaultpress. A single click, a few minutes, and it was back as it was yesterday. Phew!

Jetpack helped me with a few useful things in one place. The setup was satisfactory, and most components functioned properly. Still, a few things felt a bit much for me.

Jetpack is an indispensable plugin, by which I mean that since it’s been around and in active development since the early days of WordPress, it provides a feature set that is well integrated into much of the backend and even front-end features of WordPress. (We are enormous fans of Jetpack’s widget visibility feature.) There are some unexamined aspects which should be improved, such as the outdated and obsolete Mercator projection in the map shown for country based visitor logging statistics.

What I like:

• Easy integration with WordPress and quick setup
• Built-in features like security scans, backups, and performance optimization
• Site stats are useful and don’t require external tools
• CDN and image optimization help improve load times

What could be improved:

• The plugin feels a bit heavy if you only need a few features
• Some important features are locked behind paid plans
• Occasionally adds extra scripts that can impact performance

Overall, it’s a reliable plugin, especially for users who want multiple features in one place without installing several plugins. With a bit more modular control and lighter footprint, it would easily be a 5-star plugin 👍

I give it four stars because it’s a great concept, but it doesn’t always work. More than a few times it is unable to post, because of failing to make connection. Especially for Instagram. It’s okay for me because at least to Facebook it has never failed yet.
