Tried multiple plugins like this. At least 5 others. This one comes easily closest to what I want, straight out of the box. Free version is more than what most people will need. I’m looking into paid for some tiny specific options I need – plus they deserve an income too. Works fast, and it’s customizable. Great for an article-style blog page. But also for homepages. Filter on categories, show 10 latest ones, pagination etc etc.

Smart Post has a wide variety of Layout Presets & Content Orientations to choose from. The Navigation style options makes the Post slider blend in with any wordpress theme making it look like it’s part of the overall design. The post sliders look stunning on the page. The support is top notch too.
The Pro version is highly recommended !!
