First, you need to get a transfer token from your SiteGround account. You can do this through the WordPress Migrator tool located in the WordPress section of your SiteGround hosting control panel.
Once you select the domain name that you want to initiate the transfer for, our system will generate a transfer token for you.Paste the token in your SiteGround Migrator plugin…
Followed the instructions. Transfer was smooth and easy. No issues at all
When it works, it’s great. Only works about 30% of the time, as a web dev that’s migrated ~10 sites in ’25 and ’26
This plugin is hit or miss for me over the last year or two. It seems to work well if I’m moving within the SiteGround environment, but if I’m migrating from a different host, it can often get hung up. That said, it’s come in handy on more than one occasion.
Hi SG Guys!
Guys, you did that migration tool really perfect. I could not believe that.
Thank you SO much for saving me a huge amount of hours of hard work and patience.
Every time I use this, and I’ve used it a dozen times or more, I have to double and triple check which site is the source and which site is the destination. The documentation does not make it clear, and it’s easy to make a mistake. Getting it wrong will wipe your existing site and replace it with the blank site you’re attempting to migrate it to. There’s no reason why they are unable to explain their own product in plain English, using simple words like FROM and TO.
