Create custom dynamic sidebars and use anywhere with shortcodes.
As of April 2026, Stag Custom Sidebars is a WordPress codestag plugin with 2.0K+ active installations and a 5/5 rating from 7 reviews. It has been downloaded 68K+ times in total. Requires WordPress 5.0+ and PHP false+. Available on WordPress.org since 2013. Last updated 5 years ago — may have compatibility concerns. Downloads are down 24% this week.
This plugin adds a button to widgets area to create a new sidebar area which you can later use just about anywhere.
To display the sidebar with shortcode you can use [stag_sidebar id="custom-sidebar"] where id is the id of the sidebar that appears in the description area of the respective widget area. You can also pass an additional parameter class in shortcode to add class to the widget area wrapper on frontend.
We have added compatibility with Widget Importer & Exporter, which gives you the freedom to import and export custom widget areas when moving widgets from one site to another or backing up the widgets.

Un plugin molto utile e semplicissimo da usare.
Grazie per il grande lavoro!
Easy to use and it works well with a floating widget plugin that I needed as well. Solved a “sticky” problem. Good job!
The way this is implemented it should be part of the core and maybe just offer a way for devs to remove it for their themes.
Anyhow this is ideal. Just simple and effective with the option to shortcode the sidebars into actual content layouts.
good
Plugin works just as expected, so thank you!!
This functionality should really be core.
I’ll be bundling this up with TGM Activation Class for commercial releases!
