Looking to publish your comics or manga on your WordPress website? Toocheke Companion extends your WordPress theme with the ability to create, manage, and display comic and manga posts. While it works best with the Toocheke WordPress theme, it is compatible with most modern WordPress themes.
Comics published with Toocheke Companion can also be discovered through ComicScout — a curated discovery platform built specifically for independent comic websites designed to help readers discover new comics and drive traffic back to creators’ sites.
Recently migrated to Toocheke from Comic Easel. The theme worked easily for me in terms of formatting my archive and for posting new comics (I post a 2×2 grid of images), plus works with other plugins I continue to use. Theme/plugin author has answered my questions promptly and offered me help when I ran into issues — the level of support amazes me.
Idk if I’m doing anything wrong but I only get critical errors when I try to post a comic.
Migrating over from Comic Easel was quick and easy. To use the plugin without the theme, use the short codes. There is now even support for multiple comics (called series when a separate navigation is needed) with the short codes.

Only catch is that you need the Toocheke theme to get it to work. Otherwise I am absolutely loving it!
The companion plugin itself is a cool solution to webcomics on wordpress that I had high hopes for. The plugin works and has a ton of helpful options. I especially like the compatibility with the newer comic formats as well as the more traditional ones as well as the ability to have multiple series running on one site.
However, the theme required to make the companion work is a deal-breaker. The theme isn’t particularly flexible and is locked in to a few preset layouts with limited ability to adjust things – especially regarding comic navigation. If this were to be released as a standalone plugin without needing to tie into a specific theme I’d swap in a heartbeat. Until then, I’ll stick with other options.
