Widget Classes allows you to add classes to your individual widgets to be used by your theme. This is done by appending an additional form field to the end of your widget forms where you can enter the class.
You do not need to modify your widgets, as this will apply automatically to all widgets.
I’ve been using this plugin for years for commercial theme development. It’s worked with every release of WordPress so far.
There are other plugins to add classes to widgets, but this one offers just a simple text box, and nothing else, which is perfect if you don’t need or want extra options on your widget editing screen.
The uses are incredibly varied, but one of my favourite applications is to use this to add Bootstrap classes, like columns and text aligns. This makes building responsive layouts very fast.
Easily one of my top 5 plugins ever, and absolutely essential for web developers.
