When I first tried this plugin it appeared not to support markers. This was down to the way to use the plugin not being clear. After communication with the developers they have changed the way the plugin works and it is now much more intuitive.
Brief Instructions:
1) Go to WP Openstreetmap on the WordPress menu.
2) Click “Add New Map”.
3) Click on the Map Icon next to the red X.
4) Use the + and – and drag the map to where you want to put a marker (Do not just click on the map) or search for an address using the search box.
5) At the top of the page select the required marker. Name the marker. Add details you want to appear when you click the marker in Description (You can use html if you wish).
6) Click on the map where you want the marker to be.
7) Repeat from 4 to add more markers.
8) Markers appear on the right hand side of the map. You can edit them here.
9) Finally Use the + and – and drag the map so it shows how you will want it to show on your site. Click Save Map Settings. You are returned to the plugin front page where you can copy the shortcode to use on your site.
Very easy to use. Few features but does exactly what I was looking for.
Pros: Works well. Chooose a map and scroll in to location. Copy a shortcode, place it. Now it shows your map.
Works with newer versions of WP.
Cons: What about markers? What about documentation?
Not sure how to have a business or place selected as an option. The idea being that visitors can then instantly view details similar to google maps. Currently, just show the place and that’s it. Works fine for basics.
