If you are not yet using Matomo On-Premise, Matomo Cloud or hosting your own instance of Matomo, please use the Matomo for WordPress plugin.
This plugin uses the Matomo API to show your Matomo statistics in your WordPress dashboard. It’s also able to add the Matomo tracking code to your blog and to do some modifications to the tracking code. Additionally, WP-Matomo supports WordPress networks and manages multiple sites and their tracking codes.
To use this plugin the Matomo web analytics application is required. If you do not already have a Matomo setup (e.g., provided by your web hosting service), you have two simple options: use either a self-hosted Matomo or a clou…
Very good setup and easy connect to own “Self-Hosted Web Analytics”. I enjoy analyzing the webpage visitors, because it’s more clearly than GA. And of course GDPR friendly (tracking without Cookies).
it’s a useless plugin, first because it doesn work and second because it doesn’t follow Matomo’s own steps to include the tracking code. I quote “The token_auth feature as well as Matomo’s HTTP Reporting API is not available in Matomo for WordPress because Matomo supports the WordPress REST API.“
exept without the auth code the plugin doesn’t connect to the site.
Not to mention the complete useless of their forum, which ignores basic questions making Matomo just for the experts.
So, Matomo is great, their services suck!
Good plugin. Nonetheless, considering it is better to be in the safe side a consent banner is a must. It would be great if the tool also adds the function to incorporate the code in the header to support popular consent banners with matomo. Matomo already has made available the code for the most common popular consent banners. Plugins to add code in the headers have the drawback that one cannot really choose the location in the header, and the location seems to make a difference.
That the only reason preventing me using Matomo and that is the reason to set 2 stars to the plugin
Impossible to connect the sites with the latest version of Matomo, unusable!
This plugin does what it claims very easily. But also gives a lot of options if you want to customize your tracking.
