I’ve been looking for a “ratings” plugin that also generated the appropriate ratings structured data (schema!) and finally, this one does it.
Review is for the free version. 4 stars until I get to know it better and might decide to try Pro.
New feature suggestions for the add-on
The star system shows the average rating given to each topic. However, I want website visitors to see their own ratings for each topic they read. This will have some additional benefits for users.
For example, I want to interpret topics rated 1* or 2* as topics they don’t want to see again. This way, visitors will be able to distinguish topics they don’t want to read again.
If visitors see this new star system on the site’s home page, it will be a very good reference for whether to read the topic or not.
Red star: I think the topic is useless; I don’t want to read it again.
Yellow star: The topic is useful, but I understood and learned the content. That’s why I don’t want to read it again.
Orange star: I read the topic but didn’t fully understand the content. So I may need to read it again.
Blue star: I read the topic, understood the content, and learned it. But I may need to read it again.
Green star: Even though I understand the content and have learned it, I need to read it regularly.
Overall, Yet Another Stars Rating is a powerful and flexible rating plugin, and it does the job well for displaying ratings on single posts. The options for multi-criteria rating and the way ratings are integrated into the content are very useful.
However, there are a few bugs when using this plugin with tagDiv themes (e.g. Newspaper / Newsmag). With version 3.4.15, the plugin incorrectly shows rating stars for the category itself on category archive pages, instead of only showing ratings for the individual posts listed in that category. This is confusing for visitors, because it looks like the category is being rated, not the articles inside it.
Apart from this, the plugin remains functional, but this display issue is problematic for sites that rely heavily on categories and archives. It would be very helpful if the developer could improve compatibility with tagDiv themes and provide an option (or fix) to prevent stars from appearing on category titles.
Once this bug is resolved, YASR will be much easier to recommend for use with tagDiv-based news and magazine sites.
Fait tout simplement ce que l’on attend de lui, efficacité et facilitée d’utilisation.
I’ve been using the plugin for its ratings and schema markup management capabilities. Specifically, I’m using the recipe schema and it so happened that Google changed its requirements as to which fields were optional and which were mandatory. Since the plugin was missing a field which became mandatory, Search Console started to flag my URLs as invalid.
I got in touch with the support about the missing field issue, and the field was added to the plugin in 2 days, which I found amazing! Plus, I got notified about the patch being ready, and even got a copy of the updated plugin as an attachment to an email message before the official release to the WordPress plugin store!
Huge kudos to the dev and support teams!
And one more thing…
I use the free version of the plugin, and I got a truly VIP treatment! Way to go team, way to go!
